While a professional artist may sit in a luxury studio, at work on a high-powered easel, with expensive brushes and paint, and be more versed in "art-speak," the so-called, "amateur artist," can easily tap into what the average person deems beautiful, simply sitting at home, working away on the table-top, with student-grade materials, basic masking tape, and a few brushes.
Regardless of your approach - whether it be the economic underpinnings of a career, or the fruits of a past-time - the production of art is a wonderful experience that affords benefits and enjoyment, for both artist (despite skill-level, experience or training) and patron alike!
As you take the time to browse through the exhibitions, images, and stories, preserved and distilled as part of this blog, please try and keep these things in mind. Art does not always have to meet professional standards to be enjoyed or experienced; the "amateur artist" can learn a great deal about producing and appreciating art, simply by looking, listening, and feeling; and, most importantly - art is for everybody!Dana Fragomeni
